Dogs

My wife and I got our first Keeshond in 1974 and have remained with this breed for 33 years. Over the years, we have enjoyed conformation, obedience, and agility. The history of the Keeshond is important to my artwork. The Keeshond, a member of the Spitz family, must originally have evolved in the Arctic Circle and legend has it that Vikings brought them to Holland, where the breed has had a romantic history. During the uncertainty that preceded the French Revolution, the patriots of Holland were led by a man named Kees de Gyselaer, who owned a dog of this breed named Kees. Kees became the symbol of the patriots, and gave the breed its name. In Holland, the Keeshond was used on barges. Being a family dog, the Keeshond was used to watch and help care for children and the elderly.

In my artwork, I not only include the image of the Keeshond, but often include Tulips, Windmills, geometric shapes and lines. I also accept custom orders that would depict your Keeshond or other breed.
