“My art is both realism and abstraction. I often combine image with lines and geometric shapes. Important to my art is space, transparency and the accidental or unexpected. My art is a combination of careful planning and techniques derived from spontaneous effects.... a blend of intellect and intuition.” Stan Maples

Stan Maples was born in 1950 at Newburg, N.Y. As a young man he traveled to Japan, Bermuda, and throughout the midwest United States. He has his B.F.A. from Missouri State University and an M.F.A. from the University of Nebraska. His degrees are in the field of sculpture and drawing, but in the early 1990's, Stan became interested in computer generated images. For over 35 years, Stan has produced artwork in the field of sculpture, drawing and digital images. Over this span of time he has participated in many juried as well as invitational exhibitions. In addition to numerous one-person exhibitions, Stan has had gallery representation in Texas and Missouri. Stan has been teaching drawing, sculpture, and graphic design at Evangel University, in Springfield, MO., since 1988.
